Roll back in time while soaking in the historic scenery of Mystic, Connecticut from one of Adventure Mystic’s beautiful beach cruisers. Best said by the famous cyclist Eddy Merckx, “Ride as much or as little, as long or as short as you feel. But ride.”
Adventure Mystic’s rental rates are a great value with the goal of providing a unique and fully engaging experience of this quaint shoreline town for the whole family. Renting a bicycle is the optimal way to get out and explore!
The quiet scenic roads that once housed some of history’s greatest sea captains, provide a safe and visually stimulating haven to navigate by bike. Originally a hub for ocean dwellers to swap stories while fixing their vessels, where great adventurers were born, and some sadly lost at sea, it is no wonder that Mystic, Connecticut was named one of the Top 100 Adventure Destinations by National Geographic.
Adventure Mystic has several touring suggestions, sending riders out to Esker Point beach, Noank Village, and Ender’s Island. Additionally, they provide a self-guided 6-mile course map. The self-guided route is easy to follow; it is an out-and-back, sending you out three miles before directing you to turn around. This gives cyclists the flexibility to cut the ride short if a classic unexpected New England weather pattern arises. The ride can also be easily extended by tootling around the surrounding downtown neighborhoods.
The 6-mile course takes you down River Road, a lovely street with phenomenal views of the Mystic Seaport Museum. As a child growing up in the area, this was the route my mom would take me when biking together. It is safe, scenic, and will not disappoint!
The simplicity of the beach cruiser is bound to bring back childhood memories. It has a single-speed drivetrain, you pedal backwards to break, it sits you up-right so you can take in the sights, it is incredibly stable and comfortable. A beach cruiser is the perfect casual bicycle for the individual looking to go for a happy joy ride around town. Free yourself from your car and let the liberating feeling of self-propulsion take over. Not to mention, cycling is a wonderful low-impact workout. Your body will thank you after!
Get your beach cruise on at Adventure Mystic, and remember, the best views are from the saddle.
